Hello to all fellow writers and literary enthusiasts! We greatly appreciate you stopping by and Promise your time will be well spent here. Please allow me to show you some of the features we offer here at the DAS. (Dead Author's Society)
Well, sounds perfect right? However, despite the admin and moderators relaxed approach to running the site, there are a few rules. So listen close and you should be alright.
Now, what's the meaning behind the Name? Well, it came to me while watching the Movie, "The Dead Poet's Society". And in this movie the students of a university are taught by a very down to earth man who strongly disbelieves in the grading of poetry and that poetry should not be so strictly categorized. This got me thinking about a Website that would allow all members to post works without worrying about useless formalities that make them nervous or restrict their writing. A lot of people enforce word count, which is BS. Here at DAS we do not believe the amount of words affects your writing, unless your going purely for word count which is a different story. So yes, the Name comes from that movie as to represent a real down to earth community that focuses on the emotion of writing, not the business of writing.

There are a few member groups you guys should know about as well. Here it goes!
~Submit your work for the world to see.
~Allow other experienced writers to help you and review your work.
~Talk amongst other writers that you share a common interest in.
~A strong community that is willing to help one another.
~A relaxed critiquing system. No strict rules to follow such as commenting on three other's works before you may submit your own.
~A Unique Team system that allows you to associate yourselves with writers who share the same interest.
~A new word of the week to help expand your vocabulary.
~An overall relaxed community that enjoys writing. This allows new writers to feel at home without being pressured by the formalities of the literary world.

Well, sounds perfect right? However, despite the admin and moderators relaxed approach to running the site, there are a few rules. So listen close and you should be alright.
1.) Most importantly Be Nice. The world is full of aspiring writers and just because they aren't as good as you that does not mean you have the right to tell them that they are terrible authors.
2.) No Spamming. Please, bogus attempts at advertising unrelated websites or products will force me to swing the mighty hammer of banning down upon you. However, useful sites are permitted.
3.) Be Nice.
4.) This is an all age forum, however remember the writing world is full of words. Do NOT report any obscene language to me. We are mature writers, if you can't deal with a tad bit of cussing then just ignore it. However! If you see porn or other unrelated things that are inappropriate, please REPORT them to me and it will be answered promptly. Cussing is one thing, Porn is another.
5.) All work submitted to The Dead Author's Society should be original and copyrighted. All work here is property of their respective Writers, Plagiarism WILL be persecuted. Not to mention it is illegal.
6.) Use halfway decent grammar. Yes, some of us are better at spelling and grammar than others, if I misspell a word once in my paragraph, you don't have to mention it, chances are I already know or overlooked it with spell check. Same goes for the other members. We are a writing forum however, so talking "liek dis al teh timez jus caus u can" is unacceptable and I will be forced to ask you to use spellcheck or delete your post.
7.) Be Nice.
8.) Politics and Religion. These are two very controversial topics. A lot of formal writing is about them and so is fictional writing, however, it is not your place to argue with one another's beliefs. Comment on the writing, not the content of the writing. If you feel you must talk about this do it through PM or in the Debate Section.
9.) Be Nice.
10.) Oh yes, remember to Be Nice. I can not stress this enough. I am at heart a very sarcastic person, but I only joke with people who know it's a joke, but over the internet Sarcasm is hard to interpret. So unless you know this person and know they can take a joke, BE NICE!
