Well, personally I like to crank up an upbeat, but dramatic, song and just sway around and type to the music. I find this is the best way for me to gather my muse and just keep on typing. Some of my best writing comes form three things,
Late Nights, A Nice Drink, and a Well performed tune.
Again, oddly enough I write best late at night when my mind is less focused on grammar and ideas just start to flow, however when I wake up I realize I made a lot of grammar mistakes and then I revise and edit after a nice cup of coffee.
So, that's me. any certain things you find yourself doing when you write your best?

I think I do my best in the middle of the day, I can't really be listening to anything or I'll just wander off. I guess it all depends what mood I'm in as well. Hmm never really thought of it actually :/

I get most of my best ideas while I'm attempting to fall asleep [because obviously sleep is not my friend]. I generally do my writing either with music I make a playlist of set for that specific story, or just in silence. But no matter what, when I write...I'm always whining to a friend simultaneously. Because why not.
Oh, and a nice cider never hurts.
